A little bit about me…

I come from an artistic family, and grew up used to seeing drawings, watercolours, and oil paintings – both at home and in galleries – which bore the signature ‘O’Connor’ in the corner.

So it was perhaps inevitable that I myself would return to fine art in my mid-fifties, applying the visual literacy I had honed during a long career in graphic design, towards a more personal purpose.

My work explores ideas of masculinity – across history, culture and pop culture to study how expectations and role are mapped onto male identity and how these emotional and cultural tensions continue to evolve.

I work in any and all media, both traditional and digital, and often find the switch to a different medium refreshing and energising.
